X-plore allows you to see inside of your Android device. And also outside.

This is a dual-pane explorer, there are two folders shown at same time, and common operation such as copying files are done from one pane to another.

And X-plore shows folder hierarchy in a tree view. This offers clear orientation on where in file system you currently are, and fast switching to other location.

You may explore internals of the device, and if you’re power user and have your device rooted, you can make changes to system data – backup files, remove unwanted applications, etc.

If you’re standard user, you may choose to hide internal memory from view and be sure not to mess with system.

You can comfortably see contents of your external memories, either be it built-in mass memory, external memory card, or possibly USB memory stick attached to your tablet.

Simple app manager allows to see, run, copy, share, uninstall and further explore installed applications.

Access to FTP and FTPS (secure FTP) servers is supported.

Multiple servers may be configured. All standard file operations can be done on FTP server.

X-plore can display shared folders on other computers in LAN (local area network).

The system allows access to shared folders on computers connected to LAN, or even remote server if it supports SMB protocol.

X-plore can access various web storage “Cloud” servers, and access their files.

You need to have account in supported web service, then you can access your files stored online through X-plore.

Supported is also SSH File Transfer (SFTP) and Terminal shell emulator.

Main operations are related to managing files and folders – viewing, copying, moving, deleting, compressing to Zip, extracting, renaming, sharing, and more.

Picasa albums

X-plore can list images in Picasa albums, download them, create albums, upload and delete photos, edit captions.

SQLite database viewer

X-plore can show SQLite database files (those with .db extension) as expandable list of tables, each table containing list of rows and columns with database entries.

Main interaction is done by touch screen, clicking on folders or files to open files, or long-click to open context menu which contains options which can be done on particular clicked item, or multiple selected items.

Multi-selection allows to do operation on more files at once. Files can be selected by clicking check box. It is also possible to select all files in a folder, or clear selection, by clicking parent folder’s check box.

Opening file may mean to use one of built-in viewer for most popular file types: images, audio, video and text.

Or you may configure X-plore to use system application for opening files, in which case system-predefined application that can open particular file is launched.

Archives (currently supported are Zip, Rar and 7zip) are displayed as other folders. You may open them, see contents, and do standard operations that you’d do on files – rename, delete, copy from/to, etc.

Additional interaction is possible by button bar, which is between two panes, and is fully configurable.

Installer: The installer enables you to install and uninstall applications quickly and conveniently. It can archive multiple versions of applications, such that you can backup your apps before an update and revert back to older versions afterward. This is useful in the not uncommon event the updated item is buggy or otherwise undesirable. Additionally, the Installer is designed to work much more efficiently than the standard Android application manager, and does not suffer the frustrating lag issues found in the default Android item when browsing through a large number of installed apps.

Device Information: The device information screens show detailed information about your Android device, including storage, capabilities, network state, and OS build information.

Why does it require the ______ permission?

- SystemPanel does require a fair number of permissions in order to be able to perform all of its duties. This product DOES NOT send ANY information from your device over the Internet to ANYONE. It requires the “Internet access” and “telephony/read phone state” permissions only to monitor and display the device’s network connectivity state. A full description of why each permission is required can be found in the SystemPanel FAQ on our web site.

Does SystemPanel consume battery?

- The only component of SystemPanel which runs in the background is the “System Monitor” feature. This feature must be enabled by the user (by default, SystemPanel runs nothing in the background). When enabled, the System Monitor feature will record data about which applications are consuming the battery every 15 minutes. All told, this feature will use approximately one minute of CPU / battery time per day of operation. When this feature is not enabled, SystemPanel will not run in the background in any capacity.

Does SystemPanel automatically kill tasks in the background?

- No, SystemPanel is not an automatic task killer. It has been well-established (by the Android documentation and direct communication with the Android engineers) that randomly or periodically terminating arbitrary tasks in the interest of saving memory will NOT yield a benefit in performance or battery life. The only benefit you will see from an automatic task killer is if it happens to terminate misbehaving apps. SystemPanel provides a better solution to this problem by showing you which apps are consuming CPU in the background (over time) with the “System Monitor” feature. It is then recommended that such applications be reconfigured or uninstalled (or perhaps corrected by filing a bug with the offending application’s author).
